This was a mystery that I witnessed at the marathon Sunday.  Early in the day, when the only runners were the serious marathoners from foreign countries several minutes apart, I saw this person just standing there.  Clearly a serious runner, clearly participating in the marathon, clearly way ahead of the pack but just standing there, talking to a cop.  I wanted to ask why, but figured it wasn't any of my business.
